Multicultural perspectives and discussions about race, reparation policies and affirmative action have produced heated debates about how to overcome legacies of slavery, embedded racist ideologies and on-going socio-economic disparities among people of different ethnic and racial backgrounds. At the same time, racial discrimination, xenophobia and hatred toward the other have become visible in people’s daily lives, as well as in public discourses and election campaigns.
At the Sixth International Symposium on Brazil, we will examine this process as it is manifested and debated in Brazil, Israel and Palestine from a comparative perspective.
